About the Founder
Eli Smith believes that true life value comes from making the world better for every successive generation. As the Founder and President of SewFay, she blends her background in creative arts, business strategy, and community advocacy to create opportunities for people to connect, create, grow, and belong.
SewFay's mission is deeply personal to Eli. Having navigated epilepsy from early childhood into her twenties and later undergoing life altering brain surgery to overcome its devastating effects, she intimately understands the isolation, uncertainty, and vulnerability that can accompany life's greatest challenges. Surviving this journey instilled in her a profound resilience and a deep appreciation for the power of connection, creativity, and community.
Determined to turn adversity into purpose, Eli continued her education and earned an MBA with honors, strengthening her ability to build organizations, develop sustainable systems, and create opportunities that positively impact others.
Through both personal and professional experiences, Eli witnessed how easily people can become disconnected by the demands of work, health challenges, family responsibilities, and everyday life. She founded SewFay to create opportunities for people to learn, create, contribute, and build meaningful relationships.
She believes that some of life's most transformative moments occur when people are given a welcoming space to share experiences, discover new possibilities, and feel a genuine sense of belonging.
